HAMILTON, NJ - Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo, in partnership with the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA), the statewide association for investor-owned utilities, will host a utility job and career fair on Monday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Conference Center at Mercer, located at Mercer County Community College.
"In the next 10 years, it is expected that nearly 55 percent of the electric and natural gas public utility workforce across the country may need to be regenerated. It is crucial to our state's economic vitality that we have trained and educated individuals in place to maintain our critical utility infrastructure," said DeAngelo, who serves as chairman of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee. "This job fair will be a great opportunity for job seekers to learn about the educational and training requirements necessary for a career in the utilities and trades, as well as the benefits of working in an industry that serves as the backbone of our economy."
Representatives from NJUA member companies, including PSE&G, Atlantic City Electric and New Jersey American Water, as well as many non-utility organizations will be on hand to accept resumes, answer questions and provide information about careers and related educational programs in the utility and trade businesses.
In addition to PSE&G, Atlantic City Electric and New Jersey American Water, NJUA member companies in attendance will include New Jersey Natural Gas, Elizabethtown Gas, Middlesex Water, United Water, Rockland Electric Company, South Jersey Gas, Jersey Central Power & Light and more.
Non-utility organizations participating in the event will include IBEW Local 269, Comcast Cable, the New Jersey County College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development and the Mercer County One Stop Career Center.
The Utility Job and Career Fair is free and open to the public. The Conference Center at Mercer is located at 1200 Old Trenton Road in West Windsor. For more information, please contact Assemblyman DeAngelo's office at [email protected] or (609) 631-7501.
